Valério Xavier, known affectionately as Valerinho, is a brilliant multi-instrumentalist from Brasília, Brazil, celebrated for his versatility and dedication to Brazilian music.
Born into a family of musicians who founded the legendary Clube do Choro de Brasília, Valerinho grew up surrounded by rhythm and melody. He began playing percussion at the age of 13 and soon mastered the pandeiro and cavaquinho under the guidance of masters such as Hamilton de Holanda. At 14, he recorded his first album Dois de Ouro – A nova cara do velho choro alongside Fernando César and Hamilton de Holanda.
Throughout his career, Valerinho has performed in more than 40 countries — from the Blue Note in New York to the Coliseum in Rome — with groups like Choro Livre and Coisa Nossa. In 2018, he received the Comenda do Rio Branco from the Brazilian government for his outstanding contribution to national culture.
